WHAT YOU WILL NEED AS A STUDENT PILOT
Here is what you will need for your
flight training:
- a Certified Flight Instructor (CFI)
- an airplane (rented or owned, see my web page on this)
- the Jeppesen private pilot book (I got mine on e-bay
for $20 shipped)
- plotter and E6B flight computer (analog of course)
plus pencils
- current sectional chart(s) for your area
- headset (I recommend David Clark H10-13.4, but if you
are rich you can buy a more expensive one)
- flight bag (I use a $20 backpack)
- kneeboard (just a plain aluminum one is fine)
- headlamp (with a push switch that does not turn on
accidentally and drain your batteries)
- airport/facility directory for your area
Optional
- AOPA membership
- polarizing sunglasses (unless you have a glass
cockpit)
- FAR/AIM book (you can probably borrow this)
- FAA written exam book (from any of the vendors)
