Since it was very warm in Tucson (and very cold in Los Alamos), and we had not visited that area in several years, we decided to take a mini vacation there.

This is Acoma Pueblo (Sky City), a famous Native American mesa-top settlement

Tucson is a large city with a very busy airport. We were following a Southwest flight in for landing, but there were several other commercial flights landing or taking off at the same time. Good experience.

We spent the afternoon exploring Mt. Lemmon highway and saguaro forests.

We love saguaros.

Alex spotted this tarantula in the parking lot. Very cool.

The sunset was amazing. Unfortunately, I was not in a great place at the time. Oh well, next time.

Next day we spent in Chiricahua National Monument. This place is amazing. Last time we were here, Alex was a baby and we did not hike.

We call it the land of standing rocks.

Alex's baby tooth about to fall out.

Agave is one of my favorite plants, and this specimen was beautiful.

Next morning we spent a few hours at the Air and Space museum.

This plane has the proper control surfaces controlled from the cockpit, so Alex loved it.

We spent the afternoon in the Desert Botanical Gardens. Amazing place.

Another Agave species.

Very cute.

They have an amazing mineral collection from Arizona.

We enjoyed the sunset in Saguaro National Park

Flight home was pretty uneventful. Flying is very smooth in winter.
