Mosquito pass (13,185 feet) above
Leadville.

View west towards Leadville and Aspen

We got stuck in this snowbank. Took us
~30 min to get through, using a shovel and our rubber
mats.

Camping at Kite lake, south of
Breckenridge. Grace is grilling skewered beef. Mmm.

Next morning we drove to a high pass at
13,800 feet...

and had breakfast. Bacon, egg, and cheese
burritos. Mmm.

Then we hiked to a nearby Mt. Bross, a
Colorado fourteener at 14,177 feet (4321 m)

The views were amazing from the top. This
is looking west.

The flowers were everywhere.

A view of another fourteener.

We then hiked in the nearby bristlecone
pine forest. Very pretty trees.

For 4th of July, we descended in
Breckenridge...

and checked out their art festival.
Amazing art and photographs everywhere.

A collection of minerals from this area.

We chose to spend the evening at the
Copper Mountain resort. It was open to non-guests.
They first had a concert.

Then this dance group that plays with
fire.

This was one of the most entertaining
shows I have witnessed. These guys performed dance
routines and mock fights with all kinds of objects on
fire. The music was very fitting. I was really
impressed.

The next day we checked out some areas
east of Breckenridge. This is a high ridge overlooking a
beautiful valley with two fourteeners at its south
(left) end. They are Grays and Torreys peaks.

We found beautiful mining structures left
over from the early 1900's.

Time to have lunch and coffee.

Last day of the trip. We are at the
border of Colorado and New Mexico. The sun is setting
and we are having dinner.
