This weekend we decided to hike to Latir
Mesa, a 12700 ft (3870 m) peak in northern New Mexico.
We packed up and left Los Alamos on Saturday morning.
This time Patsy joined us for the adventure.

The first day we made the 4.4 mile, 2300
vertical foot climb to Heart lake.
Even Alex carried a backpack, with snacks and water.

Patsy taking a break.

The climb was pretty steep at times.

We arrived at Heart lake, pitched our
tents, made fire, then had dinner and smores.

Next morning it was quite chilly. We ate
breakfast and headed up for a 1200 vertical foot climb
to the peak.

Here is a view of Heart lake from the
mesa top.

Alex wanted to take a picture of us, and
here it is.

Here is a photo of all three of us by
Patsy.

where we hiked 2 weekends ago.

Here is a pano from west (Venado peak) to
North (Latir peak)

peak in the center.

A pano from north (Latir peak) to east,
with Latir lakes in the valley.

The first storm was already developing,
so we hurried down.
Thank you Patsy for joining us!
