I went on a trip to Moab with 8 other Los
Alamos Mountaineers. Everything about the trip was
great.

In the morning of the first day we hiked
to Corona and Bowtie arches

Corona arch

Then we hiked and climbed on top of
Poison Spider mesa. I learned some cool rock-climbing
moves here.

On top of the Mesa looking towards La
Sals and Behind the Rocks.

Another nice view of Behind the Rocks,
where we ended up hiking the next day.

OK, this is the last shot of Behind the Rocks from
Poison Spider Mesa (I promise).

On the second day, four of us went to the
fins in Behind the Rocks through the Hidden Valley
(pictured here)

We are now among the fins

We picked a very nice lunch spot.

We entered another valley between fins.

Here is Bill climbing up a crack. The
rest of us used a rope to climb up safely.

Carolyn coming out of the crack (hard to
see)

The light was getting really nice as we
were leaving

On the third day, we obtained permits to
enter the Fiery Furnace inside Arches National Park.
We spent most of the day there getting lost in the many
slot canyons. It was a fantastic experience.

Marilyn took this photo (thank you).

On the fourth day, a group of us hiked
the Gooseberry canyon trail in Canyonlands National
Park.

This is the view from our lunch spot. The
area is called Monument Basin, and it was incredible.

Just relaxing.

On the way back, we found these great
rock layers.

After climbing up to the top of the Mesa
(Island in the Sky), we all felt very good.
That was an almost vertical 1,400 ft climb.
