------- back to 2008 entries -------
We drove to the trailhead on Thursday,
and it was a cold and clear evening.

I was able to snap a few star photos, since Milky Way
was amazingly bright.

Pavel and I got up early to watch the sunrise on Mt.
Sneffels, which was pretty nice. Bob slept in.

We packed our gear and started hiking.

It finally warmed up after awhile, and
the scenery changed.

It took only a few hours to reach the
lower Blue Lake.

We pitched the tent, ate lunch, and drank
coffee...

then walked around the lake. The water
color was amazing.

After Bob took a nap, we headed for a day
hike up the west valley.

After a really steep hike, the views
became amazing.

Mt. Sneffels (a 14er) in the back.

At this elevation, the flowers were just
blooming. Very pretty.

The dudes.

As the wind kicked in and the Sun went
down, it became very cold. We hid behind this rock and
cooked dinner.

The sunlight finally became gentle enough
to take a nice photo.

Down by the campsite.
That night, our tent was surrounded by a
herd of elk. It was a bit scary at first, but then we
liked it. Better elk than bears.

The next morning, Pavel and I got up for
sunrise (Bob slept in of course).
The scenery was amazing, but it was difficult to capture
it with camera.
This was truly an amazing trip, both in
terms of scenery and company.
Bob and Pavel, you rock dudes! Thanks for the memories.
